Beginning January 1, 1997, an EU regulation will be in effect that requires the monitoring of temperature of frozen foods for distribution. Linseis has designed and manufactured a datalogger, the Eskimo 1, for this application. The Eskimo 1 is installed outside the cooling room and uses a PT100 sensor to monitor the temperature inside the room.
The measuring range of the instrument is from -50 to 100 degrees Celsius. The resolution is 0.05 degrees Celsius. The measuring values are stored every 15 minutes as required by the EU regulation. The capacity is one year of stored measured values.
An alarm value can be set to indicate that the temperature is out of range. This condition can be indicated with an acoustic alarm. It is also possible to connect an optional printer to the logger. The printer will print all measured data with date, time and alarms. The information can be printed for selected periods over one year.
The RS232 interface is built-in and can be connected to a computer or via modem for downloading the measured values to a remote computer. Two software packages are available to show on-line measurements and to export measured values for further evaluation.
