The Programs
Cornel offers comprehensive English as a Foreign Language programs in two
different settings. The curriculum for each program is designed to meet the
developmental and intellectual needs of each level, as well as offer
opportunities for enrichment. The kindergarten program is for children aged
three to six. Students range from six to thirteen years of age. It is a full day program introducing children to the basics of
the English language. Games, songs and stories are emphasized at this level. The
students also enjoy weekly sessions in Cornel's modern CD-ROM computer
laboratory.
The Yve's program is tailored to meet the needs of students who have attended
the Cornel Kindergarten program yet have had to enter Chinese Elementary school.
At this level, English skills are reinforced and built upon. Yve's program is
more reading and writing intensive than its preschool counterpart, with
additional emphasis on speaking, reading and rhetoric. Students range from six
to fourteen years of age.
The Staff
Our staff comes from a variety of backgrounds. This year we have teachers
from the USA, Canada, South Africa, Jamaica, Australia and England. The faculty
members share a common goal of providing quality learning experiences for all
students. Each faculty member has had some teaching experience and/or formal
training in teaching English as a Foreign Language and enjoys the support of
colleagues and administrators.
See the "Teachers Feedback" page for letters and comments from
teachers who have been a part of the Cornel experience.
